Federal Report Links Moisture to Toxic Cloud in Atlanta Chemical Fire
A report by the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board reveals that fires at a BioLab facility near Atlanta, which produced a toxic chemical cloud, were caused by reactive chemicals being exposed to moisture. The incident, which occurred on September 29, led to significant smoke and evacuations, with Interstate 20 being shut down temporarily. BioLab, a subsidiary of KIK Consumer Products, is cooperating with ongoing investigations and has faced multiple lawsuits. The fires resulted in a chlorine-smelling haze affecting parts of Atlanta.
