Mom Hospitalized After Vacation Tattoo Leads to Severe Skin Infection
Kirsty Griffiths, a mother of five from Liverpool, England, was hospitalized with a severe cellulitis infection after getting a tattoo on her ankle while on vacation in Turkey. The infection caused her ankle to swell and blister, leading doctors to warn that she might need an amputation if it didn't clear up. After four days in the hospital and treatment with antibiotics, her condition improved, but the experience has deterred her from getting any more tattoos. The tattoo shop claims their instruments were sterilized, suggesting the infection might have been caused by Griffiths wearing socks post-tattoo.
