A couple in France developed red, itchy rashes on their stomachs and sought medical help. It was discovered that they had been bitten by parasitic mites, known as Pyemotes ventricosus, which were living off beetles infesting their wooden furniture. While it is rare for these mites to bite humans, the resulting rash is easily treatable.
