Rising Electric Bills: Austin Energy's Fourth Rate Hike Sparks Concerns
Austin Energy is implementing its fourth rate increase in the past year, with the average residential customer's bill set to rise by approximately $1.50 per month starting from November 1. The previous rate changes included an increase of under $2 in October, a $15 average increase in November 2022, and a base rate rise to $13 per month in March. The latest increase is attributed to the cost of purchasing energy on the ERCOT market and covers charges such as the Community Benefit Charge, Regulatory Charge, and Power Supply Adjustment.
