Austin Energy's General Manager Jackie Sargent Retires Suddenly
Jackie Sargent, the general manager of Austin Energy, has retired effective immediately following a public outcry after a February ice storm that left tens of thousands of people without power. Stuart Reilly, who served in Sargent’s administration, will serve as interim general manager. Sargent was recognized throughout her 40-year career as a visionary leader within the electric industry. Her departure is the latest in a string of changes among city leaders, including Assistant City Manager Rey Arellano and Jacqueline Yaft, executive director of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Interim City Manager Jesús Garza has been making organizational changes among city leaders and departments since taking office.
