Austin Police Department responded to an aggravated assault call in east Austin, where a man had allegedly shot his brother. The suspect initially evaded capture but was later located at a second location. A SWAT call was initiated, and after a brief standoff, the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody.
Two people were seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash in East Austin early Saturday morning. The incident occurred at 800-805 East Cesar Chavez Street, and the injured were taken to Dell Seton Medical Center. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Austin-Travis County EMS responded to a vehicle rescue call in east Austin, near the 200-240 blocks of Bastrop Highway, at 2:19 a.m. An adult patient was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but they were not expected to be life-threatening. ATCEMS is no longer on the scene, and no further information is available.
A snake crawled into one of the substations, causing a power outage that affected roughly 16,000 people in east and southeast Austin. The outages had dwindled to 142 total customers by 5:30 p.m. and were mostly resolved by 7 p.m. Five active outages were affecting six customers.
