Ukraine to withdraw from Ottawa anti-landmine treaty, Zelenskyy announces
Ukraine's President Zelenskiy has signed a decree to withdraw from the Ottawa Convention banning anti-personnel mines, citing Russia's extensive use of such mines in the ongoing conflict and the need for effective defense. Parliamentary approval is still required for the withdrawal, which is seen as a response to Russia's tactics in the war. Other neighboring countries have also withdrawn or indicated plans to withdraw from the treaty.
