"Discovery of Ancient Roman Shipwreck Unveils 2,000-Year-Old Secrets"

The wreckage of a 2,000-year-old Roman ship has been discovered off the coast of Italy near the port of Civitavecchia. The cargo ship, estimated to be over 20 meters long, was found laden with intact Roman terracotta jars known as amphorae. The discovery, made by the Carabinieri police's art squad using a remotely operated robot, provides valuable insight into ancient maritime trading routes. It is yet to be determined if experts will attempt to recover the ship and its cargo from the sea floor.

Divers uncover 3rd century BC shipwreck.

Croatian and Italian naval mine-clearance divers discovered a fully preserved shipwreck containing a cargo of ancient amphorae from the 3rd century BC in the waters of the Šćedra Island archipelago, off the southern coast of Hvar island. The discovery was made as part of a long-standing collaboration between the two countries. The shipwreck is one of the earliest fully preserved on the eastern Adriatic Sea coast and plans for its protection, conservation, and presentation will be developed based on future archaeological research.
