"NASA's Ingenuity Sets New Altitude Record on 59th Mars Flight"

NASA's Ingenuity helicopter achieved a new altitude record on its 59th flight on Mars, reaching a height of 66 feet (20 meters). The 4-pound helicopter has been serving as a scout for NASA's Perseverance rover, helping identify routes and science targets. Ingenuity's primary mission was to demonstrate the feasibility of aerial exploration on Mars, and it has exceeded expectations by completing 59 flights, covering a total distance of 43,652 feet (13,304 meters) and staying aloft for 106.5 minutes.

Amateur-built rocket breaks altitude records.

Students from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University set a new altitude record for an amateur rocket, reaching a maximum altitude of 47,732 feet (14,548 meters), which is 1.6 times higher than Mount Everest. The rocket, named Deneb, broke the sound barrier and reached Mach 1.5 during a 26.1-second flight. The team, called the Cygnus Suborbitals, spent 4,000 hours constructing, testing, and launching the rocket. Several graduating students from the team have already been accepted for full-time jobs at companies like SpaceX, Blue Origin, and Firefly Aerospace.
