Exploring Alice in Wonderland Syndrome: Perception gone awry.
Alice in Wonderland Syndrome is a rare neurological condition that distorts a person's perception of themselves and the world around them, causing visual and aural hallucinations. It is most commonly associated with migraines among adults and encephalitis caused by Epstein-Barr virus in children. Brain imaging suggests that the syndrome may be caused by a dysfunction of a region of the brain called the temporo-parietal-occipital junction, where visual and spatial information are combined with signals about touch, body position, and pain.
