France Halts Development and Budget Aid to Burkina Faso

France has announced the suspension of development aid and budgetary assistance to Burkina Faso, following the country's support for possible military intervention against the new military rulers in Niger. The move comes after the West African bloc ECOWAS issued an ultimatum to Niger's new rulers to return power to the democratically elected president or face military intervention. France expressed its firm support for ECOWAS' efforts to reinstate the elected president.
