NASA's OSIRIS-REx spacecraft is set to deliver its first asteroid sample, collected from the asteroid Bennu, to the Utah Test and Training Range on September 24. The team is working closely with U.S. Army meteorologists to plan for all weather scenarios, as the capsule carrying the sample cannot wave off a landing attempt. Concerns include rain and mud, as well as wind speeds that could affect the parachute deployment. Multiple tracking assets and aircraft will be used to monitor the capsule's descent and landing.
