NASA's Ingenuity helicopter achieved a new altitude record on its 59th flight on Mars, reaching a height of 66 feet (20 meters). The 4-pound (1.8 kilograms) rotorcraft completed a full hover during the flight, covering no horizontal distance. Ingenuity, which landed on Mars with the Perseverance rover in February 2021, is serving as a scout for the rover team, helping identify routes and science targets. Over the course of its 59 flights, Ingenuity has traveled a total of 43,652 feet (13,304 m) and stayed aloft for 106.5 minutes.
