Catch the Last Quarter Moon's Half-Lit Beauty Tonight

The moon will reach its last quarter phase tonight, appearing half-illuminated by the sun. This phase marks the halfway point between the fully illuminated full moon and the completely dark new moon. The last quarter moon will be visible from 11:30 p.m. EDT until shortly before it drops below the horizon at around 1:46 p.m. EDT on Wednesday. As the moon progresses towards the new moon, it has been rising and setting an hour later each day, becoming less visible in the night sky.
