Daily Telescope: Ancient Supernova and Cosmic Beats

Astrophotographer Ken Bates captures a stunning image of the Garlic Nebula, a 10,000-year-old supernova remnant formally known as CTB-1. The object is notoriously difficult to photograph due to its faintness, but Bates used narrowband and RGB filters to capture the image over a total exposure time of 51.5 hours. The result is a breathtaking view of the Garlic Nebula, showcasing its intricate details and vibrant colors.
