Astronomers Uncover Massive Black Holes Beyond Imagination

Astronomers from Durham University have discovered an ultramassive black hole, believed to be one of the largest ever detected, using a new technique called gravitational lensing. The black hole has a mass of 30 billion suns and is located at the center of a galaxy hundreds of millions of light-years from Earth. The team used a nearby galaxy as a magnifying glass to bend the light from the black hole, enabling them to closely examine how light is bent by a black hole. The finding opens up the possibility of discovering more inactive and ultramassive black holes than previously thought.
