Possible Mars Temple Unearthed in France

Archaeologists in Brittany, France, have discovered a Roman temple or sanctuary that may have been dedicated to the war god Mars. The site, which dates back to the first century BC, was part of a complex that included a small town, public baths, and a cemetery. The discovery of a bronze figurine of Mars and iron weapons suggests that the temple was frequented by Roman soldiers. However, a large number of terracotta figurines, perhaps representing Venus and mother goddesses, were also found nearby. The sanctuary was used until the fifth century AD and was abandoned for unknown reasons.
