Epilepsy Drugs Show Promise in Reversing Autism Symptoms in Mice

Researchers at Stanford identified hyperactivity in the reticular thalamic nucleus as a key driver of autism-like behaviors in mice and demonstrated that suppressing this activity with drugs, including an epilepsy drug under investigation, can reverse these symptoms, suggesting a shared mechanism between autism and epilepsy and a new potential treatment target.
