Toyota Urges Immediate Repairs for 50,000 US and Canadian Vehicle Owners

Toyota is urging the owners of 50,000 older U.S. vehicles to get immediate recall repairs due to potentially deadly Takata airbag inflators. The affected vehicles include certain 2003-2004 Corolla, 2003-2004 Corolla Matrix, and 2004-2005 RAV4 models. This warning comes in the wake of more than 30 deaths worldwide, including 26 in the U.S., linked to Takata airbag inflators. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not yet commented on the matter. This is part of the largest auto safety callback in history, with over 67 million Takata airbag inflators recalled in the U.S. by more than 20 automakers and over 100 million inflators worldwide.
