A significant coastal storm is expected to impact the East Coast from Florida Keys to southern Maine, prompting widespread flood and wind alerts.

A large storm system is set to bring high winds, fire threats, and severe weather to the central United States this weekend, affecting nearly 30 million people across 12 states. Wind alerts are in effect from North Dakota to Texas, with gusts expected to exceed 40 mph and reach up to 80 mph in some areas. Over 3 million people in five states are facing critical fire weather conditions, prompting power shutdowns and event cancellations in Colorado. Severe thunderstorms, including damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes, are forecast for the Heartland on Saturday, with the potential for severe weather in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana on Monday.

Another winter storm is expected to hit New Jersey late Friday and early Saturday, bringing steady rain, strong winds, and the potential for flash flooding in poor drainage areas and near swollen rivers, streams, and creeks. The National Weather Service has issued wind advisories for coastal and inland areas, as well as flood watches for multiple counties. Coastal flooding is also likely, and power outages are expected due to gusts of up to 55 mph.

A Tornado Watch is in effect for the WEAR News viewing area until 7 a.m. Tuesday, with the possibility of embedded tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail overnight. The Storm Prediction Center warns of several tornadoes, some intense, along with damaging winds and large hail events. The storm environment is favorable for rotating storms, extreme wind gusts, and 2 to 4 inches of rain. Wind alerts are also in effect due to forecasted extreme wind gusts overnight and windy weather continuing into Tuesday.

A powerful storm system is set to impact about 20 states along the East Coast, starting in Florida and moving up through early next week. The storm will bring heavy rain, dangerous winds, and coastal flooding, potentially affecting Christmas travel plans. Flood and wind alerts are in effect from South Carolina to the Northeast.
