Former Michigan linebacker Joey Velazquez has joined Ohio State as a walk-on for 2024, providing the Buckeyes with extra veteran depth at the linebacker position following the departure of three-year starters Steele Chambers and Tommy Eichenberg for the NFL. Velazquez, a native of Columbus suburb Lewis Center, played in 21 games over five seasons with the Wolverines and recorded seven tackles as a reserve. His addition comes at a time when numbers have been thin at the linebacker position for Ohio State, and he could potentially contribute on special teams.

James Williams, a walk-on defensive lineman for the Nebraska football team, made a strong debut by recording a shared sack and a solo sack in his first game. Williams, who joined the team in July after playing at Iowa Central, impressed his teammates and coaches with his pass-rushing skills. Despite starting on the scout team, Williams proved that he belonged on the field and earned the nickname "Sack Man."

Cody Mauch, a former walk-on at North Dakota State University with no college offers, was drafted in the second round of the NFL draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mauch played multiple sports in high school and started 39 straight games over his final three seasons at NDSU. He was praised by defensive linemen he faced in college and will bring his grit and determination to the Buccaneers' offensive line.

BYU football concluded its spring practices for the 2023 season with media members observing the final 20 minutes of practice. Quarterbacks Kedon Slovis, Nick Billoups, Jake Retzlaff, and Ryder Burton were seen in action, with walk-on defensive lineman Nuu Sellesin making another play. The team also struggled with kicking during the final practice. Tight end signee Bentley Redden was in attendance, and former BYU star Sione Takitaki was also present. The team now shifts its focus to preparing for the upcoming inaugural season in the Big 12 Conference.

Lior Berman, a senior shooting guard for Auburn and a walk-on player, has captured the hearts of his hometown of Birmingham as he prepares to play in the NCAA Tournament. Despite not being on scholarship, Berman has worked hard and contributed real minutes to Auburn's rotation, and is shooting over 40% from 3-point range. He has paid his own way for the last two years due to Auburn's scholarship reductions, but has still managed to become a fan favorite and hometown celebrity. Berman's journey from walking on at Auburn to playing in the NCAA Tournament is one of the great stories of March Madness.
