The Biden administration plans to offer some asylum seekers from Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Haiti the chance to voluntarily return to Mexico. Asylum officers will inform the migrants that if they accept voluntary return, they can apply for legal entry into the U.S. if they have a financial sponsor and can pass security checks. The voluntary return script is part of the Biden administration’s effort to deal with an expected increase in migration at the southern border after Title 42 expires this week.
