Delta Air Lines sold out a special flight, number 1218, for a total solar eclipse on April 8, offering prime eclipse-viewing opportunities for passengers on other flights as well. The eclipse will be visible across North and Central America, and NASA recommends using protective viewing glasses. The path of totality will run from Mexico through the U.S. and into Canada, and while watching from an aircraft is an option, a retired astrophysicist suggests the best experience is from the ground with a cloud-free sky.
