Dare Rose swam a time of 50.74 in the men's 100 fly 'A' final at the 2023 U.S. National Championships, becoming the sixth-fastest American of all time and the 17th-fastest performer of all time. Katie Ledecky swam the third-fastest time in history in the women's 800-meter freestyle at the 2023 Phillips 66 National Championships, with a time of 8:07.07. This is her fastest time since 2016 and she now holds the top 30 performances of all time in the event. Ledecky's consistent splits and dominant performance earned her a spot on the 2023 U.S. World Championships team, marking her sixth-straight World Championships berth.

Caeleb Dressel finished 29th in the men's 100 freestyle prelims at the US National Championships, nearly two and a half seconds slower than his personal best. This marks the first time since 2015 that Dressel won't represent the US on the major international stage in the 100 free. Despite Dressel's poor performance, the US men's team looks strong in the event, with four swimmers breaking 48 seconds in the prelims, led by Ryan Held. Dressel is scheduled to race in the 50 fly, 100 fly, and 50 free later in the week.

The 2023 Pro Swim Series in Mission Viejo will feature top swimmers from the US, including veterans Simone Manuel and Abbey Weitzeil, who are looking to reclaim their spots in major international competition in the women's sprint freestyle events. In the men's backstroke, Justin Ress, Ryan Murphy, and Hunter Armstrong will collide in the 100 back, while up-and-coming swimmers like Teagan O'Dell and Cal's NCAA stars Jack Alexy and Gabriel Jett will also be competing. The competition will serve as a precursor to the US National Championships and the World Championships this summer.
