Rylee Erisman of the USA set a new championship record with a 53.17 in the 100 freestyle at the 2025 World Junior Swimming Championships, breaking her personal best and the previous world junior record, and becoming the fastest American junior in the event.

Caeleb Dressel finished 29th in the men's 100 freestyle prelims at the US National Championships, nearly two and a half seconds slower than his personal best. This marks the first time since 2015 that Dressel won't represent the US on the major international stage in the 100 free. Despite Dressel's poor performance, the US men's team looks strong in the event, with four swimmers breaking 48 seconds in the prelims, led by Ryan Held. Dressel is scheduled to race in the 50 fly, 100 fly, and 50 free later in the week.
