"U.S. Climate Law Sparks Clean Energy Tech Surge in Just One Year"
The U.S. climate law, known as the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which passed one year ago, has already spurred investment in clean energy technology and manufacturing. The law offers tax credits that have incentivized the installation of solar panels and the production of batteries and electric vehicles (EVs). Nearly 80 major clean energy manufacturing facilities have been announced, representing an investment equal to the previous seven years combined. The IRA aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build domestic supply chains to compete with China and other nations. Experts predict a flood of investment in wind and solar-related manufacturing in the coming years, further accelerating the clean energy transition. However, the law's success is partially dependent on the growth of the U.S. electric grid to accommodate new demands.
