Funeral services were held for Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Jacques "Jay" F. Rougeau Jr., who was shot and killed in the line of duty. The 29-year-old trooper was fatally shot while police were searching for a man who had shot another trooper in Mifflintown. The gunman was killed in a shootout. Governor Josh Shapiro praised Rougeau's dedication and service, highlighting his love for Penn State football and mentoring kids during youth basketball games. Donations can be made to support the families of the troopers involved.

Trooper Jacques Rougeau Jr. was shot and killed, and Lieutenant James Wagner was seriously injured in an officer-involved shooting in Juniata County, Pennsylvania. The shooter, identified as Brandon Stine, fired shots at patrol vehicles in the parking lot of Troop G, Lewistown station, and engaged in a shootout with police in a nearby parking lot before being cornered and killed. Rougeau is the 104th member of the Pennsylvania State Police to die in the line of duty. Governor Josh Shapiro ordered flags in the commonwealth to be flown at half-staff.
