NASA's New Earth Information Center: A 60-Year Journey in Earth Monitoring.

NASA has opened a new Earth Information Center at its headquarters, showcasing how data from Earth-monitoring satellites and instruments can help address climate change, environmental challenges, and disaster management. Meanwhile, an international team of researchers has used NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to calculate the amount of heat energy coming from the exoplanet TRAPPIST-1 c, suggesting that if there is an atmosphere around the rocky exoplanet, it is extremely thin. Additionally, a new curation facility at NASA’s Johnson Space Center will eventually house the sample material from asteroid Bennu that is being returned to Earth by NASA’s OSIRIS-REx mission.

James Webb Telescope Discovers Surprising Atmosphere on TRAPPIST-1 C Exoplanet

NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has discovered that TRAPPIST-1 c, a rocky exoplanet orbiting a red dwarf star, does not have a thick carbon dioxide atmosphere, making it unlikely to be a Venus analog. The planet, which has the coolest measured temperature for a rocky exoplanet, might have formed with minimal water content. It either lacks an atmosphere or possesses a very thin one, and further research will investigate temperature variations on the planet and continue studying potential atmospheric conditions.
