Rocket Lab's Blue and Gold spacecraft for the ESCAPADE mission to Mars have successfully launched and are undergoing trajectory correction maneuvers, with planned burns to adjust their paths and optimize their journey to Mars, where they will conduct scientific research and orbit maintenance over several years.
NASA's OSIRIS-REx probe performed its final trajectory-correcting maneuver on Sunday to prepare for the delivery of its asteroid sample on September 24. The maneuver adjusted the landing location of the sample capsule by nearly 8 miles to the center of its predetermined landing zone in Utah. After touchdown, the sample will be curated and stored at NASA's Johnson Space Center for further study. The main spacecraft will continue its mission to explore the potentially hazardous asteroid Apophis in 2029.
