China-EU Relations: Strengthening Trust and Cooperation Amidst Global Challenges
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has called on China to take Europe more seriously and stop viewing its relationship with the EU through the lens of its rivalry with the United States. Borrell emphasized that Europe's assessments and conduct towards China are driven by its own interests and not influenced by any hidden agenda. He expressed frustration that Beijing does not accept that the EU has formed its own conclusions on China. Borrell's visit to China aims to reaffirm Europe's seriousness in its relationship with China and address issues such as the conflict in Ukraine and the Middle East. The EU is also concerned about trade imbalances and market access problems faced by European firms in China.
