Samsung has announced a termination schedule for Galaxy Store services for Tizen smartwatches, starting with the cessation of paid app purchases on September 30, 2024, and ending with the complete halt of all downloads by September 30, 2025. This move does not affect Samsung's newer Wear OS-based smartwatches.

Samsung plans to enhance its voice assistant Bixby by incorporating Generative AI, allowing it to understand complex sentences and offer more natural communication. The company also intends to bring Bixby and Tizen to all its future home appliances, enabling customized solutions based on user behavior and patterns. Additionally, Samsung will introduce a lightweight version of Tizen called Tizen RT, which will run on a Micro Processor Unit (MPU) in all upcoming home appliances. The company aims to unveil these features during the Samsung Developer Conference 2023 event in October.

Samsung has released a new software update for its 2018 Galaxy Watch, two years after support was supposed to end. The update, based on Tizen, improves sensor behavior and weighs in at just over 34MB. Samsung committed to software support for Tizen for at least three years from the point of release, but this update comes as a surprise. The 2018 Galaxy Watch series was beloved by many and still technically works today, so it's nice to see Samsung extending support for it.
