Power Outages Plague East Texas After Severe Storms.

Nearly 10,000 SWEPCO customers had their power restored overnight, reducing the number of customers without service from about 160,000 to about 130,000. SWEPCO is receiving help from across the region and nation, with nearly 3,000 utility professionals joining forces to rebuild communities across northwest Louisiana, east Texas, and western communities in Arkansas following extreme weather. However, there has been no change in the reported estimated restoration times for different districts.

SWEPCO Outage Update: Full Restoration Expected in a Week.

More than 168,000 SWEPCO customers, including nearly 32,000 in Gregg County alone, remain without power as the company estimates a week before full restoration. The storms caused catastrophic damage to transmission lines and nearly 60 transmission and distribution stations were affected. SWEPCO's updated restoration estimates range from Tuesday, June 20 to Saturday, June 24, depending on the district.

Over 200k people in Louisiana and East Texas are without power due to heavy winds and an EF-1 tornado. SWEPCO has set up staging areas and brought in nearly 2,800 linemen to help restore power, but it could take up to a week until all power is restored. Priority power situations include hospitals, nursing homes, and sewer lift stations. Safety is also a priority for SWEPCO. Another update will be released around 5 p.m. CST.

Storms Leave Over 200K Without Power in the ArkLaTex, Mayor Declares Emergency.

Severe thunderstorms and winds caused widespread damage and power outages in the ArkLaTex region, leaving over 237,000 customers without power. SWEPCO crews are assessing the damage and working to restore power, but warn that it could take days or longer due to the hurricane-level impact of the storm. Cooling centers have been opened around Caddo Parish to help those without power. Residents are urged to stay off the roads to allow crews to safely complete their work.
