India's Aditya-L1 Mission Successfully Reaches Lagrange Point 1, Escaping Earth's Influence

India's Aditya-L1 spacecraft, on a mission to the Sun, has successfully escaped Earth's sphere of influence by traveling 9.2 lakh kilometers, according to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). This marks the second time that ISRO has sent a spacecraft beyond Earth's influence, following the Mars Orbiter Mission. The spacecraft is now on its way to the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point 1 (L1).

ISRO's Ambitious Aditya L-1 Mission: Exploring the Sun and Venus

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is gearing up for its next missions after the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3. ISRO is now focusing on the Aditya L-1 project, India's first dedicated scientific mission to study the sun, which is scheduled for launch in early September. Additionally, ISRO is preparing for the abort mission demonstration for Gaganyaan, India's first human spaceflight mission, expected in late September or early October. These missions mark the beginning of what ISRO's head, S Somanath, calls the "golden era" of India's space program.

ISRO Plans July Missions to Moon and Sun.

ISRO is planning to launch Chandrayaan-3, India's third moon mission, and Aditya-L1, India's first scientific mission to study the sun, in July. Chandrayaan-2 was successfully launched in 2019 but its lander crashed on the moon due to a software glitch. Chandrayaan-3 will have an indigenous lander module, a propulsion module, and a rover. Aditya-L1 will be inserted into an orbit around the L1 point, 1.5 million km from the earth towards the sun.
