Arianespace CEO Stephane Israel has stated that Europe will not have a reusable rocket until the 2030s, with the Ariane 6 rocket being expendable despite entering development nearly a decade ago. Europe currently lacks its own options for access to space, with Ariane 6 set to fly for more than 10 years before transitioning to a reusable successor. Private rocket companies in Europe are also developing reusable rockets, but they are light-lift, whereas Ariane 6 and its possible successor are much more capable, medium-heavy-lift rockets.
