International Space Station Welcomes New Crew for Yearlong Stay

Two Russian cosmonauts, Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub, along with NASA astronaut Loral O'Hara, have launched aboard Russia's Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft for a year-long stay on the International Space Station. The crew will join Expedition 69 and will be involved in various activities, including spacewalks and conducting scientific experiments. Kononenko and Chub will spend twice the amount of time in space as O'Hara to accommodate a short visit by Marina Vasileyeva, a representative from the Republic of Belarus.

Friday Launch: Next Station Crew Set for ISS with NASA Astronaut and Two Russians

NASA astronaut Loral O'Hara and Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub are set to launch aboard the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft to the International Space Station on Friday. After docking, they will join the station crew for a six-month space research mission. Meanwhile, Expedition 69 Commander Sergey Prokopyev and Flight Engineers Dmitri Petelin are preparing for their return to Earth on September 27. NASA Flight Engineer Frank Rubio will also set up crew quarters for O'Hara before her arrival.
