Billionaire Jim Simons donates record $500M to Stony Brook University.

Stony Brook University, a SUNY school on Long Island, is receiving a $500 million donation from the Simons Foundation, one of the largest gifts ever to an American university. The donation will go towards scholarships, academic programs, and research. The State of New York will match 40% of the donation through an endowment idea created by Gov. Kathy Hochul. The donation was made by alumni married couple Marilyn Simons and her husband, billionaire Jim Simons.
