"Escalating Conflict: US Conducts Self-Defense Strikes Against Houthi Weapons"
The US military conducted four "self-defense strikes" against Houthi missiles and a launcher prepared to fire from Yemen toward the Red Sea, aiming to protect merchant vessels and US Navy ships in the region. The strikes were in response to an imminent threat posed by seven mobile Houthi anti-ship cruise missiles, one mobile anti-ship ballistic missile launcher, and an unmanned aircraft system originating from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen. This comes after previous condemnations of Houthi aggression in the Red Sea by CENTCOM and the State Department.
