"Ukraine's Fight to Bring Back Missing Children from Russia"

Mykola Kuleba, CEO of Save Ukraine, is leading efforts to rescue Ukrainian children who have been illegally deported and forcibly transferred to Russia and Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories. These children, torn apart from their families, face indoctrination and Russification under Russian forces. Ukrainian officials estimate that over 200,000 children have been deported since the invasion began in February 2022. Save Ukraine has successfully returned 386 children, but collaboration with international organizations and the Ukrainian government is lacking. The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia's children's rights commissioner, accusing them of war crimes.

Over two dozen Ukrainian children who had been kidnapped and taken to Russia since Moscow invaded Ukraine have now been brought back home, thanks to the efforts of the charity Save Ukraine. This was the fifth operation of its kind, and the children will now be reunited with their families. The ICC has issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, charging them with war crimes that include illegally deporting children from Ukraine to Russia since the invasion began in February 2022. More than 19,000 children have been forcibly taken to Russia, but only 360 have returned.

Rescuing Ukraine's Future Generation Amid Russian War Crimes Accusations

Thousands of Ukrainian children have been forcibly removed from newly occupied territories by Russia, with some being sent to concentration camps and others being adopted by Russian families without parental consent. Non-profit organization Save Ukraine has been working to rescue these children and bring them back to their families, but the process is dangerous and expensive. The camps and movements are part of a larger plan sanctioned by the Russian government, and some children may never return due to brainwashing and Russian propaganda.
