Russian Red Cross Linked to Militarization of Ukrainian Teenagers

Russian forces have been deporting Ukrainian children to Russia, where they are subjected to propaganda, given Russian passports, and ultimately forced into military service. The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Putin and a Russian official for their alleged role in abducting and deporting Ukrainian children. Ukrainian authorities believe this is part of a wider effort to erase Ukrainian identity and replenish Russian forces. Organizations are working to repatriate these children, but many remain in Russia, some enrolled in military academies.

Ukrainian Teen Illegally Deported to Russia Returns Home Amidst Zelenskyy's Remarks

Bohdan Yermokhin, a Ukrainian teenager who was taken to Russia from the occupied city of Mariupol during the war, has returned to Ukraine with the help of President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and international organizations. "Ukraine's Fight to Bring Back Missing Children from Russia"

Mykola Kuleba, CEO of Save Ukraine, is leading efforts to rescue Ukrainian children who have been illegally deported and forcibly transferred to Russia and Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories. These children, torn apart from their families, face indoctrination and Russification under Russian forces. Ukrainian officials estimate that over 200,000 children have been deported since the invasion began in February 2022. Save Ukraine has successfully returned 386 children, but collaboration with international organizations and the Ukrainian government is lacking. The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia's children's rights commissioner, accusing them of war crimes.
