Former Maryland Official Commits Suicide During FBI Arrest Attempt in Knoxville, According to DA
The Knox County District Attorney announced that no criminal charges will be filed against FBI agents involved in the fatal shooting of former Maryland official and federal fugitive Roy McGrath in Knoxville earlier this year. McGrath sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head while FBI agents attempted to arrest him on charges including wire fraud and theft. An FBI agent fired a shot simultaneously when they realized they were in the trajectory of McGrath's firearm. The medical examiner was unable to determine which gunshot wound caused his death. The district attorney's office concluded that the agent's use of deadly force was justified in self-defense.
