Former Hogan Chief of Staff Roy McGrath Killed by FBI After Three-Week Manhunt

Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan’s ex-chief of staff, Roy McGrath, was fatally shot by federal agents in Eastern Tennessee as they sought to arrest him, ending a three-week fugitive search. McGrath was supposed to stand trial on fraud charges in the U.S. District Court in Baltimore on March 13 but never showed up. It is unclear whether McGrath shot himself or if an agent shot him, describing it only as an “agent-involved shooting.” McGrath was accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the state during his tenure at the helm of the government-owned nonprofit Maryland Environmental Service.
