Dutch titanium frame maker Pilot has unveiled the Seiren, a fully 3D-printed titanium frame prototype at Eurobike. The Seiren will cost €17,000 ($18,625) for a complete bike built with Dura-Ace, Corima wheels, and all other high-end carbon bits. The frame weighs just 1,150 grams, putting it in the ballpark of carbon road bikes. The fully 3D printed frame is stronger than its welded counterpart because it eliminates the stress points of welds. The Seiren is expected to go on sale in 2024.
Dutch titanium specialists Pilot Cycles have unveiled a new 3D-printed titanium road bike, the Seiren, which will cost around €17,000 when it enters full production in October. The frame is made up of three 3D-printed sections, which are then bonded together, and the seat mast is similar to the Trek Madone aero road bike. The walls of each section are only 0.6mm thick, bringing the claimed weight of a size-56cm frame down to 1,150g. The bike is set to go on sale in early 2024.
Specialized has released two new Allez models for 2023, featuring disc brakes and 35mm tyre clearance for improved versatility. The Allez is claimed to be the lightest bike in its class, with a frame weight of 1,375g. Trek has launched the third generation of its Émonda ALR, which is the brand's lightest alloy road bike and "highest-value road race bike". The new Émonda ALR frameset includes features found on Trek's carbon road bikes, including Kammtail tube profiles and integrated cables, and uses the same racing geometry. The bike will be available as a frameset and in two builds, the ALR 5 and ALR 6, with prices starting at £2,325/$2,300. The new Émonda ALR is Trek's lightest aluminium road bike, and features a threaded T47 bottom bracket and aero profiling on the frame tubes.
Pirelli has updated its P Zero Race TLR road bike tyres with a new carcass construction that reduces rolling resistance by 24% for a 28mm tyre compared to the previous generation. The new construction uses aramid fibres to provide improved puncture protection and allows for a thinner, more pliant casing. The tyres are available in black or tan wall options, with sizes ranging from 26mm to 32mm depending on spec. Pirelli will also be introducing 35mm and 40mm-wide tyres later this year.
