Sierra Space's 'Tenacity' Spaceplane: Revolutionizing NASA's Approach to Orbital Flight

Sierra Space has completed construction on its first Dream Chaser space plane, named "Tenacity," marking a significant milestone for the company. The vehicle will be shipped to NASA's Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility for environmental testing. Sierra Space holds a NASA contract to launch robotic resupply missions to the International Space Station (ISS) with Dream Chaser, and Tenacity is expected to make its first flight to the ISS in April 2024. The space plane's design combines aesthetics, functionality, and endurance, with the ability to withstand reentry temperatures of over 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Sierra Space also plans to use Dream Chaser for crewed missions in the future.

SpaceX Dragon Capsule Sets New U.S. Spaceflight Records

SpaceX broke U.S. spaceflight records with the successful launch and docking of its 20th flight-proven Dragon capsule to the International Space Station (ISS) for the CRS-28 mission, marking the 38th time a Dragon spacecraft visited the ISS, beating the record held by the Space Shuttle. The Dragon 2 fleet’s cumulative time in space also surpassed the Space Shuttle fleet’s time with 1,324 total days in orbit. SpaceX is currently the only U.S.-based company making regular visits to the ISS, with resupply missions and crewed missions for NASA.
