Record-setting US astronaut returns from year-long space mission

The Soyuz MS-23 capsule successfully returned two Russian cosmonauts and one American astronaut from the International Space Station (ISS) after a record-setting stay of over a year. Originally planned for a six-month mission, their stay was extended due to a coolant leak on the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft. The crew spent 371 days in space, setting the record for the longest stay on the ISS. The American astronaut, Frank Rubio, also set the record for the longest single spaceflight by an American. Rubio admitted that he would not have signed up for a year in space initially, but once he started training, he was committed to the mission.
