Trump's Promise: From Dictator to Drilling

Former President Donald Trump, during a Fox News Town Hall, stated that he would not be a dictator "except for Day One" if he is reelected. When asked to clarify, Trump mentioned closing the border and increasing oil drilling as actions he would take. The Biden campaign seized on these comments, accusing Trump of admitting he would be a dictator on day one. Trump has previously stated that the indictments he is facing are politically motivated and has expressed his intention to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate President Biden and his family if he is elected. Trump is currently leading in the GOP presidential primary polls.

Pharmacies and Politicians Clash Over Abortion Pills

The Washington Post's editorial board criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom for canceling a $54 million contract with Walgreens over access to the abortion pill, mifepristone. The board accused Newsom of "bullying" the company to score political points and abusing his power. Walgreens had refused to distribute the drug in 20 states where they were threatened with legal action by Republican officials. The paper defended the company for simply following the law and warned that Newsom's overreach could give reason for conservatives to retaliate and further cleave the economy along political lines.
