New Telescope Could Uncover Hidden Planet X in Our Solar System
A new study suggests that a hypothetical "Planet X" or "Planet Nine" could exist in the outer solar system, with a mass 4.4 times that of Earth and an orbit much farther than Neptune. The research, accepted by The Astrophysical Journal, identifies significant clustering in the orbits of trans-Neptunian objects, suggesting a different model for Planet X than previous studies. The Vera C. Rubin Observatory, with its advanced 3,200-megapixel camera, is expected to have a high chance of discovering this planet when it begins operations in 2026.
