Researchers funded by the National Institutes of Health have developed a smartphone app called OpenCap that can track and analyze human motion, including locomotion, at a fraction of the cost and 25 times faster than current techniques. The app uses artificial intelligence to analyze muscle activations, joint loads, and joint movements, providing valuable data for evaluating patients with movement difficulties, planning surgeries, and assessing treatment outcomes.
