Rescued: Britain's Loneliest Sheep Finds a New Home

A sheep, dubbed "Britain's loneliest sheep," was rescued by a group of farmers after being stranded at the foot of a Scottish cliff for at least two years. The sheep, named Fiona, was successfully hauled up a steep slope by the rescuers. Previous rescue efforts had been planned, but Fiona's arrival at a petting zoo was delayed due to protests from a volunteer group concerned about the stress it may cause the formerly isolated ewe. Fiona has now arrived at the petting zoo and is settling in well.

Deadly Bacterial Outbreak at Tennessee Petting Zoo Claims Child's Life and Sickens Dozens

A toddler in Tennessee died from a bacterial infection caused by goats at a petting zoo, with 14 other children and parents also infected. The outbreak was linked to Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) found in two goats at the Lucky Ladd Farm. The farm had been hosting a summer camp for children aged six to ten. The CDC recommended educating attendees on the health risks of farm animals and promoting handwashing before and after contact with animals.

County Fairs Across California Offer Fun and Food for All.

The 101st Los Angeles County Fair has begun its 16-day run at the Fairplex in Pomona with the theme "Spring Into Fair: Where Fun Blooms." The fair will feature traditional attractions such as food, a petting zoo with over 150 farm animals, and a carnival, as well as new attractions like the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's first exhibition. The fair's concert series will include performances by War, Chaka Khan, and John Fogerty.
