Park Ridge police are investigating a serious pedestrian-involved crash that occurred around 6:20 a.m. near the Cumberland and Peterson area. Authorities are asking people to avoid the area and to call 847-318-5252 with any witnesses as the investigation continues; no cause or details have been released yet.

Chicago police Sgt. Michael Vitellaro has been found not guilty of aggravated battery and official misconduct after being charged in a case that left a teen pinned to the ground. Vitellaro was off-duty at the time and claimed he was using proper technique to take down a bike thief suspect. The incident occurred in Park Ridge, where Vitellaro's son's bike was allegedly stolen. The judge heard from witnesses who testified that Vitellaro never identified himself as a police officer before or during the incident.
