Alameda County DA Pamela Price and Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao Recalled by Voters
Alameda County voters have approved the recall of District Attorney Pamela Price, with 65% voting in favor. Price, the first Black woman to serve as DA, faced criticism for her handling of high-profile cases and was accused of being lenient on crime. The recall was supported by police unions and Rep. Eric Swalwell, among others. The Alameda County Board of Supervisors will appoint a replacement until the next general election in 2026. The Oakland Police Officers Association expressed support for the recall, citing concerns over justice and economic management.
